Padma Jaiswal IAS: A Trailblazer in Public Services

 

Dr. Padma Jaiswal, a distinguished Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to public service. Her illustrious career spans over two decades, marked by strategic decision-making, innovative initiatives, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

Early Career and Notable Achievements

Hailing from a humble background, Dr. Jaiswal’s journey to the pinnacle of public service is truly inspiring. She began her career in the challenging terrains of Arunachal Pradesh, where she served as the Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Deputy Commissioner of various districts. This formative experience instilled in her a strong sense of duty and a commitment to serving the marginalized.

Subsequently, Dr. Jaiswal moved to the National Capital Region of Delhi, where she held key positions such as Director of Primary Education, Director of Health, and Deputy Commissioner of various zones. Her contributions to the development of Delhi were significant, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare.

A Rising Star in Goa and Puducherry

In 2016, Dr. Jaiswal assumed the role of Secretary to the Government of Goa, overseeing crucial departments such as Labor and Employment, Cooperation, Power, Rural Development, Panchayats, Urban Administration, and Veterinary. She also served as the Secretary for the Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the Commission for Backward Classes. Her tenure in Goa was marked by several noteworthy achievements, including the successful organization of the BRICS and ASEAN summits.

From 2020 onwards, Dr. Jaiswal has been serving as the Secretary to the Government of the Union Territory of Puducherry. In this role, she has been instrumental in driving initiatives in information technology, planning, economics, statistics, stationery and printing, and ex-servicemen’s welfare.
